for discussion: Institutional ethics review policies and SoTL

Hello STLHE members.
There appears to be a number of institutions that are in the process of implementing some changes to their ethics review policy for SoTL research and I wondered if other institutions have made similar revisions. If anyone knows of an institution that has a policy surrounding REB of SoTL projects or is developing/revising one, please let me know. I would be very interested in reviewing what other institutions are doing in this regard. I encourage you to post your comments to this blog post for discussion but, if you prefer, you may also contact me confidentially by email. I will summarize responses for the STLHE list-serv and SoTL Canada blog.
I look forward to having a conversation among our members about this topic.
Thank you,

Interesting Deb! I’d love to hear more about what you’re considering there. At MRU we didn’t have a policy per se but when I was on HREB we did develop a guidance document for SoTL researchers that might be helpful: ” Ethical considerations for dual role research: Conducting research with students in your own classroom” http://mtroyal.ca/cs/groups/public/documents/pdf/dualroleresearchers.pdf
